When Aspen flights cancel it is like a giant butterfly farting in the jungle especially if it is one of the bigger weekends like we will be experiencing next week when the xgames get to town.  All the Aspen hotels are all full so if you check out go to the airport and your Aspen to where ever flight is cancelled you have to make some fast moves if you are going to get to where you need to be, either back in the hotel that you checked out of or in a another probably cheap Aspen hotel which will be premium priced as it is a busy weekend Last minute at the big hotels like the Little Nell, the St Regis, Jerome or Hyatt they are going to be at their highest rates usually.

I have seen where the first flight cancels and then all the later planes if they are cancelled there are no seats sometimes for the unfortunates to book out of Aspen for two days as they try to clear out the people that are stuck at ASE.

Anther option is to try to book a flight out of Eagle Vail or Denver.  Denver is going to be your best bet as they rarely close that new airport so the planes will get in and out the secret is to get re booked and start moving in that direction as soon as possible as Vail pass and Eisenhower Johnson tunnels can be backed up sometimes for hours.
