United Miles Explorer Card from Chase Freaquent Flyer program
United Miles card is again in my pocket , now renamed the explore card and was surprised to learn that it also has club access but the rub is this you need to wait one year and then they give you two passes. For me this will be OK, but I think for lots of people that it will be a little bit of a disappointment if they do allot of domestic flights.
The first flight that we made with the card they upgraded us to first class but this was for the leg from Aspen to Denver which all of a 25 minute ride. The only advantage on the first class is a larger seat and you get free drinks big deal it’s a 25 min flight, pretty as it might be. You also get to get on the plane firster sort of me I wait till its full anyway gives me more time plugged into a electrical socket, hint hint airlines and Fuck what ever the useless bastards at TSA say.
Another advantage of the Explore credit card is that you get to check your first bag free as a United Premier this means nothing as that is a United Premier flight benefit all ready.
I didn’t bother to ask what the APR on the card was and it is nearly 15% until of course you default but after the credit card law changes that went into effect in Feb it is not nearly as heinous as it was in years past. Now you can be late right till up to the next month billing cycle not have it count as a late payment and if you do get two late payments you can “freeze” the card which will keep it at the same APR but you cannot use that card again I wonder what that will do to your FICA score, I would expect that it is a big negative to the credit raters almost like waving a flag saying pre bankruptcy. Please check out this legal blog site for more on the Credit Card law that came into effect in Feb
Getting to be a bit annoying getting asked everywhere credit or debit. The vendors charge you more on a debit purchase because they are using your money instead of the banks money which really isn’t even your bank but a different vendor flagged as your vendor confused on why this ? I think that is the main idea.
